Well, the frenzy has started again for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 4 starting in 2012! Congrats to all the queens in the cast! Especially our LA queens, Chad Michaels and William Belli! We may be green with envy, but know that when it is your time to shine, I want nothing but the best for you darlings! Go out there and show then what you are made of! (pause) Speaking of knowing what you are made of, I did come across a situation where I am still in a conundrum. Thanksgiving and Christmas always means spending time with our family. Not just our proverbial family, but stopping to see those relatives you only see at the holidays. When it comes to our flesh and blood family, how much do we actually share with them? I am not saying to share your intimate details with the newest hook up from Grinder with your aunt (even if she is your fave), but how open are you able to be with your siblings? Parents? Grand-parents? I know that we always say that family is what you make it, but at times, we use that as an excuse to get over the mourning of not being truly close to our flesh and blood family. It is something that is a touchy subject for a lot of us during the holidays for this is when you usually make the obligatory rounds to all of the relatives’ houses, keeping your personal business to yourself and perfecting the art of mindless chit chat. So I say as we evolve, find that balance. Cutting your family off by not telling them about your new project or that art film you just saw just cuts them off from you. The real you. It stops them from knowing that you are not a caricature, but a person with interests and activities (again not your bedroom shenanigans) that you are willing to share with them. A part of you. How they respond? Only you know the answer to that, but knowing you aren’t hiding under that dark holiday cloud once again should shed some light on who you are. Life is good, baby! Happy Thanksgiving! Nuff said.

Lang meets Elvis Presley VMA shocker had even Britney frightened. Hey, gotta hand it to her, androgyny definitely needs more presence in the mainstream pop world since the Lilith Fair circuit is on a hiatus? It also seemed that every female pop artist sported a Gaga headpiece on their head, and what was up with Nicki Minaj’s costume?

VMA’S weekend was fun parties galore. The color pink reigned (as usual) at Perez Hilton’s One Night In Los Angeles Concert Series. On the red carpet were JoJo, Mayra Veronica, Linda Hogan, Willa Ford (remember “I Wanna Be Bad” from the Max Martin era), Cherry Tree Recording artist Natalia Kills, Backstreet Boy’s AJ Mcclean, Kevin Bacon, Shiny Tony Guns, Jessica Sutta (former Pussycat Dolls) and pop sensation, Kimberly Cole with her boy toy rapper, Garza also made the scene. We were also treated by a performances including one from my faves, The Veronicas.

Ironically, both Kimberly & Jessica have just released singles. Kimberly Cole’s new record “Arrow Through My Heart” features DJ Eddie Amador & rapper Garza in a thumping club banger with a hint of dubstep with Kim’s solid vocals and a kick ass rap from Garza. The record is getting a great reaction from all the pop music blogs online, and is on iTunes now. A remix package will follow. Can’t wait for that. Jessica Sutta on the other hand out of Nicole Scherzinger’s shadow has really struck gold signing a record deal with Hollywood Records. Her latest single “Show Me” is simply a “Great Song” that is very well written, hook after hook, and gets a listen from me at least twice a day. A remix EP is on iTunes with club treatments from Dave Aude, Alex Gaudino/Jason Rooney, & Ralphi Rosario.

Start loading up that iPod, bitches…

And going, going Gay is the only way to go go! Lady GaGa has finally came OUT of his Tranny Closet at the VMA’s this year! And was “allegedly” caught bumpin’ uglies with Pop Closet Gramps Tony Bennet in his big, fat sretch limo. Men are such Pigs! Now our Patron Saint of Catholic Mafia Princess’s has fallen into a mere, dumb, dumping, dude with a classic ahem…ga garbage cock! With garbage men, being some of the best, butchest tricks I’ve ever had, Brett Henrichsen’s MASTERBEAT’S HARD LABOR 6 brought us some real mans back to the MAYAN Downtown again for the 6th year. Along with Dj’s Paulo and Ana Paula beating down hard, hard bodies from all over converged for this drum and bass feat into the crack of dawn. Hard Hotties beatin’ with the best of em: Rob Dorman, Bill Bouvier, Anil Patel, Alex Rhodes, Tony Moran, Patti Razetto, Alyson Calagna, Isaac Escalante, Ric Sena, Justin David, Steve Hatchett, Michael Brown, Jenna Marx, Caesar Gomez, Brian Delgado, Shelley and Leticia, Jack Hartsfield, Gary Steinberg, David Wiggins, Mike Nava, Gracie Lastie, Paul Roeder, Paul Nicholls, Jeff Delancey, Page Arpel, Justin Frazier, Mark VDH, Jude Antonin, Ruben Zambrano, Greg Butler, Jeffrey Drew, Montana Volby, Steven Dehler, Gregory Howell, Rudy Cobelentz, Jason and Fred. Wheeeee!!! Looks like you’ve turned your smart queer eye to the pages of Ameria’s TOP bottom queer rag Odyssey Fagazine, for your bi weekly gossip fix brought to you only by H.S.H.Candy Ass (Hollywood)’s tinsel town terrorist S.R.S. Sandaughter Shamantha Cox!! Move over Katy Perry, Adele, and Lil’ Kim wannabe Nicki Minaj!! This years Mtv VMA’s belonged once again to ahem…“Lady” GaGa as he proudly left his drag at home and showed up as his natural horse hung male self, Jo Calderone!! Stars like Katie Perry, Kanye West, Beyonce, Jay Z, Justin Gay Bieber, and Courtney Love’s arch enemy Dave Grohl watched in shock and awe as Mr. Calderone stole the show with a lil’ help from Queen guitarist Brian May!! Speaking of handsome men, Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey’s superfreak Docu-S.R.S.star and ahem…daughter of Cher, the one and only Mr. Chaz Bono has been getting a lot of shit for becoming a cast member on this seasons Dancing With The Stars!! Never mind his co-stars like Carson Kreesley, Ricki Lake, Kristen Cavallari, Nancy Grace, and David Arquette…we need to take to the blogs and show our support to Chaz for being brave enough to bring trans to prime time reality tv! The only other smart choice for a trans on tv would have been DWTS contestant David’s sister Queen Ruler H.S.H. Alexis Arquette- but my psychic skills are telling me she might have her very own tv show in the works!! Hooray!! Meanwhile, the show must go on, suicides and all, for Bravo’s killer tv show The Real HouseKILLERS of Beverly (Murder) Hills!!! The network has decided to air the show and are even considering including scenes from Russell and Taylor’s marriage councelling sessions!! The premiere episode featured a scene where Kyle, Camille, Adrianne,Kim, and Lisa (sans widow Taylor) sat down on a couch to cry fake for camera tears about Russell Armstrong’s death!! Looks like Taylor is fucking the LA county coroner now.. They both QUICKLY said Russell wasnt KILLED he ONLY committed suicide… Too bad the living Armstrongs have hired their own private imvestigator to prove he was MURDERED!!! Bad news for H.S.H. Madonna!! The critics have panned her directorial skills!!! Her film WE opened at the Venice film festival and received scathing reviews!! Even movie mogul Harvey Weinstein tried to unsecure the rights to the film!! And, lets not forget about the photos of her problem child Lourdes wearing a bikini and sporting HUGE breasts while Mamma Madge vacationed on the beach with her 24 year old “latest camera ready boyfriend” Brahim Zakrit!!! Add to her list of troubles the current lawsuit against her clothing line Material Girl, her ex husband Guy Ritchie and his new much younger girlfriend Jaqui Ainsley just giving birth to a baby boy, and her current fight with the new Fame Queen H.S.H. Lady GaGa where H.S.H. Madonna had the nerve to say: “I have no comment to make about her obsession towards me because I don’t know whether her behaviour is something deep and meaningful, or superficial!!!” Speaking of fights, Nicole Ritchie and Jessica Simpson are at each others throats because the two former stars have been cast as judges on a fashion themed reality show and Nicole thinks Jessica has no concept of high fashion!!! Romance time! Looks like Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have fallen right in love!! The two fame birds were seen kissing each other and holding hands at Disneyland!! In other Disney news, Miley Cyrus is moving further away from her squeaky clean image after she got yet another tattoo and she recently talked to her idol big ol’ dyke Joan Jett about how shes not eleven years old anymore and she doesnt need to apologize for her adult behavior!! Everyone still loves Kim Kardashian!! Her top rated tv show scored over 3.5 million viewers this week. Hey, whatever happened to Paris Hilton’s Oxygen show?? Cancelled!! Robert Pattinson just finished filming blockbuster movie Breaking Dawn with his co star Kristin Stewart! Meanwhile, Cameron Diaz and Cheryl Cole have become close friends after working together on the set of What to Expect When You’re Expecting!!

BY MISS BARBIE Q

Hello my loves. So I got asked to perform for the Gay Day at LA County Fair this year. I know, right? Such an old school venue, but something that brings me back to my childhood. The fair is in Pomona, CA, where I grew up. I was so excited, I decided to post the Facebook event on this group for us folks who grew up in Pomona. Needless to say, in less than a minute, someone commented: “F*ck Gay Days, you don’t need a special day if you are trying to be normal.” OMGG (Oh My God Girl) I got that same knot in my stomach from when I had to deal with this bullshit when I used to live there. It dawned on me that with all these postings, event invites, likes, pokes and comments that we have still made a little bubble around ourselves. I posted back and forth with this dude trying to tell him that I never felt safe at the fair as a gay man and it is something that is for everyone. Families no matter who they are. He just didn’t get it. I posted back and forth with him for an hour until I told him “I am not going to keep arguing with someone who doesn’t want convincing. If you don’t like the event, don’t come to it. And this is the last posting I will put on here about it.” OMGG. The next day there were 53 (!) postings ranging from Obama, Crips and Bloods, politics, women abandoned by their husbands, cheating spouses, and it hit me again. There is the some anger towards the LGBT community that has nothing to do with us. There are people with issues that may never be resolved BUT it still doesn’t take from the fact that we are in our gay bubble. If we don’t step out of it, we will never make change. Needless to say, I ended up deleting the event post, but I did NOT take myself from the group. Here’s what I said: “Let’s get something clear. I am proud to be from Pomona. I posted that I was coming back to my hometown and performing at the LA Fair. I found it ironic that those who commented on my posting saw it as self-promoting, celebrating my lifestyle or what have you. And you know what’s worse? I got the same knot in my stomach as I did when I lived there. The same ignorance, the same intolerance, and the same indifference is still alive and well in some of you. I would think that reflecting on memories you would have evolved, but I see some have not. I am this close to taking myself out of this group, but you know what? As I am P-Town to the heart, I will not back down either. You will see more posting from me. Hope you can handle it. If not, ignore it. There. I can let it go. Let the good times roll. Life is good still. It breaks my heart some still, but what can you do?” Nuff said.

W HOTEL, GLAAD MEDIA & ABSOLUT VODKA PRESENT: PRIDE PERFECTED

On Saturday evening, June 18, Odyssey visited Fort Lauderdale, the #1 gay travel destination in the US, to celebrate Stonewall Gay & Lesbian Pride Festival at the ‘Pride Perfected’ kick-off pool party held at the sleek, new, “W Fort Lauderdale”.

Sponsored by GLAAD and Absolut vodka, this chic pool party had a DJ spinning electro-lounge beats at the resort’s Wet West Pool on the Fifth Floor of Tower 2. It was the best kind of partying because it was for a good cause, with all proceeds from the ticket sales benefitting GLAAD charities, as the organization celebrates its 25th year of supporting LBGT causes. What made this pool party such a shout-out for the cause is that live social media links were tying us into sister events around the country! Of course, there was real live eye candy all around, plus an open vodka cocktail bar, courtesy of Absolut. As the sun set over the Atlantic, and the palm trees swayed in the balmy breeze with the sky showing purple/pink hues, we knew this wouldn’t be our last time sipping and dipping at the W.

Let’s face it, this former college spring-break town has definitely changed, and the W Hotel is proof positive. Put quite simply, the W is THE hottest hotel in the city right now. The W brings “Oceanfront Wow” to the shores of South Florida, positioned directly on Fort Lauderdale Beach with crystal blue waters of the Atlantic on one side and the yacht-lined, intracoastal waterways on the other. And we don’t say that just because Trip Advisor members just voted the 517-modern monument “The Trendiest Hotel in the U.S.” No, we mean you can just feel it when you walk through the place. It doesn’t hurt that Clodagh designed both the inside and the outside of the place. The famous designer says that the building’s shape was inspired by a sailboat on the move, and its cool blues, crisp whites and sandy browns celebrate the sun and the sea. But our favorite touch was how Clodagh brought in the state’s most famous lizard (the alligator) shape wherever she could – from sitting stools on the pool deck to chairs on the outdoor terrace … and even to stuffed white gators on every bed!

The hotel chain’s famous “Whatever, Whenever” concierge service – if you can dream it, the hotel will help you do it – is headed up at W Fort Lauderdale by a gorgeous man simply called “Tokyo” (who used to be on “MTV New Orleans”, but that’s another story).

And there are the amenities we’ve all come to expect at a W – an outpost of New York’s very own Bliss Spa, Stephan Starr’s first restaurant in south Florida, Steak954, which boasts the biggest and best lobster dinner we’ve ever had; Randy Gerber’s hot (straight) nightclub Whiskey Blue; and our favorite, a see-through voyeuristic ‘human aquarium’ of a pool called, Wet which turns into a full pool party on Sundays called ‘Sublime Sundays’. This party includes a bar, food, DJ, and South Florida’s most gorgeous guys. But first, visit Sweat, a state-of-the-art fitness center that will keep your beach body looking its best.

We tried it all, and we highly recommend this hotel to all of the LGBT travelers interested in visiting this urban resort town for the unbelievably awesome amenities, but also for the LGBT inspired packages created specifically to benefit a charity close to our hearts, GLAAD.

So even though Pride in South Florida lasts for just one weekend, you can celebrate it all year long with W Fort Lauderdale’s very own Pride 365’, and ‘Pride and Joy’ bliss packages.

Summer time and the living is easy. The Summer Solstice has just passed, and I hope you worked it for all its worth. A friend telephoned from England that night. He was at the Henge to end all Henges…Stonehenge, where they claim to have the world’s biggest Summer Solstice wing-ding, I guess the joint was jumping! Now the word Solstice is a Latin word combo of “sol” or sun, and “stice” or, to stand still – or as we know it, the longest day of the year. Way back when, that crazy crew, the Druids established the most enduring celebration tradition associated with the Solstice of Summer which was what they considered to be LUCKY, and what they termed, the “wedding of the Heavens and the Earth.” Now, from this party, we got in the habit of having more weddings in the month of June than any other month, as a June wedding was thought to be blessed and luckier than those taking place at other times. Hold the phone. As it so happened, New York, the Empire State, a place so nice they had to name it twice, and a place that has its very own issue of lucky Odyssey Magazine, just had reason-a-plenty to do some celebrating indeed. The state passed Gay Marriage and had one big old lucky-ass Pride, and so the bells did ring-a-ding dong. It’s on like Donkey Kong! Read your horoscopes. Kiss someone. Put a ring on it. After all, you’re all stars.

Aries Mar 21 – Apr 19: You may ask the fellahs who deliver your new sofa to move it, “a little to the left” and then “a little to the right,” but you finally plop it right smack dab in the middle. Do this with your own direction at this time as well. In spite of temptations to walk on a wild side or two – resist for now. Hey diddle-diddle, stick to the middle. David Hyde Pierce

Taurus Apr 20 – May 21: Be mindful that even though you are a welcome and very capable advocate when it comes to others and their problems, there is a risk now that associating so much with them might be something for you to try and avoid – otherwise you may get way off your own track, and into worlds not of your choosing. Leslie Jordon

Gemini May 22 – Jun 21: Having trouble making up your mind?? How about your bed?? Well, in fact, you may find yourself kind of stuck-like, not knowing which way to go… well, dear, (headlights and all) granted this is all going to change, but for the time being, don’t fight it, no need. Just gather more information before doing anything. Barry Manilow

Cancer Jun 22 – Jul 22: They say that all work and no play make you a dull boy. Well, not right now, that’s for sure. Do be sure to get a little socializing in, around the edges. However, your focus on work, and with those with whom you associate professionally, is sure to prove a dandy use of time – fine boy. Cheyenne Jackson

Leo July 23 – Aug 23: Now is the time that you may be called to reach out and touch someone…not in the steam room however, I’m afraid. Your distant connections, relations, and affairs will divide your time and your mind – with the split leg focus. An answer regarding a relationship close to home will make its way to you easier than you ever thought. James St. James

Virgo Aug 24 – Sep22: Details, details, that’s right. What may be a cumbersome aspect to your interests needs to rate high on your attention chart at this time. You should also further inspect any opportunities that show promise; and fill every loophole, as you will not want to devote time only to find that it was a pothole, or a rat hole, but not the right hole. Lily Tomlin

Libra Sep 23 – Aug 23: Two steps forward, one step back – knit one, pearl two…whatever – it’s going to be a while before much production is done, so breathe and lay in a supply of the stuff you most need on those power sessions, (Hey, you decide!) Hours will be long, but energy short, so pace yourself and make the others, if you can. Matthew Williamson

Scorpio Oct 24 – Nov 22: Pick a little, talk a little, pick, pick, pick – or maybe not. Drop the dumb stuff, the petty, and the mellow dramatic. You need not spend energy in these directions. Do your best to tidy up loose ends, or at the very least, smack ‘em until they go away. This new leaf will reward in Quicker Picker Uppers, so get ready to enjoy the bounty. Madison Hildebrand

Sagittarius Nov 23 – Dec 21: Oh, well look who’s both bold and beautiful now! Ta-Da! Your courage and self-assurance is very high, and you come forth with brilliant stuff, but most of those around you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Not to fret, just ride it, hold on to your own, and in no time the rest will assume its rightful place. Jason Sechrest

Capricorn Dec 22 – Jan 20: As you roll the dice now in your life’s game of Monopoly, you have no trouble gathering an impressive collection of properties, etc. However, what doesn’t seem to be easy is completing much of any of them. This has you going from smirk to stunned, and back again. It’s okay though. Have fun on the see-saw for now as the Tilt-a-Whirl is coming soon. Sal Mineo

Aquarius Jan 21 – Feb 18: Looks as though you seem to be popping up everywhere, more than Orville Redenbacher and the Pillsbury dough boy combined. Well, good for you. Adding to your contact list is a bit overdue. Be sure to be calm and diplomatic under conditions that tend to irritate. This way you remain as fresh and as tart as others see you. Jose Antonio Vargas

Pisces Feb 19 – Mar 20: At a time when those around you are talking nothing but doom and gloom and seem to be retreating back into the dark of their rooms, you are packing up for a day at the beach. One word for you…GO! Distance yourself from negative energy and you will stay afloat even on the pools “infinity” edge. Besides, the sun-kissing will outshine a little sand in the shorts, be sure of that! Gary & Larry Lane
