THE WIGS.
By Livonia & Venus D Lite
I want to give some major props to my pals Beverly Fairfax and Ginger Snaps who brought some old school fun to drag early on Tuesday nights these past few weeks with their Bev & Gin on the Rocks cabaret and burlesque-style show. I was glad to see their Big Wig sisters Dee Dee and Ivan, among many friends and family, upstairs at Eleven. The three week engagement was a hit and I’m already plotting a full-on Big Wigs reunion at here lounge in November. Cheers, ladies! Another dynamic duo really raised the roof at Mickys last weekend in support of the Equality Networks Oktoberfest and bake sale (fun!!)– the Boofont Sisters did a few of their best medleys along side emcee Tammie Brown and DJ Phyliss Navidad (dressed to kill as usual). Dina Martinez also wrangled some diversity for a Friday night mixer at Fubar that included Detox, Lady K., and Ben Roman (Benyonce if you’re nasty) all in support of her Dina & Gregg radio show that airs on Sunday nights. I also want to invite you and yours to come out for two special events at here lounge this coming Monday and next– SASSY is welcoming the cast of “Eating Out 3” on Oct. 23 and “Sordid Lives” on Oct. 19 before we do an all-star Halloween show with a major diva theme– all of our best gals are gonna be there spoofing a big pop music institution to the “t” with some assistance from DV8 hunk Josh Griffin and Randy Blue boy Dawson Riley. We like to think of it as drag that makes a difference every Modnay night.
Hello Darlings. Venus D Lite here with another edition of “The Wigs.” Well I have to say that the last two weeks have been very eventful for the Dreamgirls Revue. First off I had the chance to go see Cher in Las Vegas (had front row, of course) with the #1 Cher Impersonator Chad Michaels in which during the concert Cher herself gratefully acknowledged Chad and when Cher came out in her new costume for the song “Believe,” she looked at Chad and gave him the hint “this is your new project, time to thread the sewing machine.” For me this was a very Madgegestic week due to the fact Madonna just released her new Greatest Hits album and new video “Celebration”.. after 8 days, 8 Madonna parties having made a replica of her new outfit (which is entirely covered in rhinestones) beautifully replicated by Tony Iniquez and Adam Magee…I have to say, Madonna Fans sure know how to party! Shout out goes out to Miss Delta Work for her Susan Boyle tribute– a video of it was posted on PerezHilton.com gaining more than 8000 views overnight. WORK Baby! America’s Next Top Model Raja returns to the Dreamgirls on the 20th. On my Drag outings I got to see the fabulous Detox @ Metro Mondays actually breath fire during her number “Burning Up “ by Madonna. Two snaps up, baby!! Oasis had their Lady Gaga theme night for Sunday event Drag Idol. All the girls did a wonderful job. The fabulous Libra took home the cash that night. Speaking of Lady Gaga, Rhea Litre did a fabulous Gaga number at the LiquidDreams Pool Party and towards the end of her number actually jumped in the pool (wig, costume and all) and had the crowd wet in their pants. For all you hardcore drag lovers, believe it or not the Inland Empire is one of the best kept secrets for Drag Entertainment.. VIP Nightclub in Riverside has three drag shows during the week including the Dreamgirls Revue on Fridays an Amatuer Drag Show on Wednesdays and a Saturday All Star Drag Revue hosted by yours truely. Check it out, it’s always 18 and over and it’s the largest club in the Inland Empire…Shits-n-Giggles with hostesses Phyliss Navidad and Barbie Q reopens this Friday at their new location 3100 Club in Koreatown…Can’t wait!!! Alright my darlings that it for today..Remember, have fun with your makeup. Love and Kisses, V
