THE WIGS.
By Livonia & Venus
I had a blast attending the Season Two premiere party for “RuPaul’s Drag Race” last week at Eleven with my drag brother Andy Santiago (aka Savannah) from Micky’s. Also there were underwear kingpin Giovanni Landaverde, “Eating Out” heartbreaker Michael ER Walker and his charming roommate, Andrew; with pal Joey, Grant Landry and Imani Phoenix. The screening was a complete hoot. It was fun to see Sahara Davenport and Shangela seated side-by-side as they watched themselves lip-synch for their lives. These two are longtime pals who play off each other so well. I just had the chance to work with Season 2’s “funny girl” Pandora Boxx at SASSY. She was holding court at the bar all night while the crowd cheered for her look-alike salute to guest judge, Kathy Griffin. Also spotted: Season One original Tammie Brown, Dominique & Safire (thankfully reunited), Barbie Q (decked out on her way to Mr. Black), Mercedes Electra, Alexis Arquette, Prada, Ashley Love, Mayhem Miller, ATL diva extraordinaire Nicole Paige Brooks (drag mother of Megan), Josh Miller, Snatch & Menagerie’s Raven, Chad Michaels, Samantha Starr, Ron Davis, Bradley Kish, Santino Rice, the drop dead gorgeous Sonique, and a glowing Morgan McMichaels. All of the girls are working round-the-clock these days and you can see them locally at Fubar, Micky’s and Rage all winter. SASSY welcomes Morgan back on 3/1 for our special Oscar-themed show. They’ll bring you four more newcomers from Season Two this winter as well. Get out and support our LA-based divas as they explode onto the national scene! SASSY also continues to host fan faves like Detox and Lady K on Monday 2/1, an all-star birthday for Mayhem on Monday 2/8, the return of Lorayne Love on Monday 2/15, and Alaska Thunderfuck and Tammie Brown on Monday 2/22. Mondays are Saturdays for the drag scene in WeHo!
>> Hello Drag Lovers. I hope the rain didn’t get you down but for us queens it sure gave us hell. It’s not easy driving in heels in the rain or pulling out a full load of wigs out of your car in the pouring rain. Thank god this bitch of a rain storm is over!! Now for the make up gossip ! The Dreamgirls Revue had a surprise guest, Adam Lambert, who stopped by the show the other night and made a very warm hearted back stage apperance. He is just as adorable in person. Quick reminder: the Dreamgirls will be having their Valentine’s show with a Tribute to the Ladies of the Eighties on 2/9 with a 9pm mixer hosted with complimentary wine and champange. Shout out goes out to Phyliss Navidad for an awesome performance @ Fubar as Mon Qui Qui from MadTV. This bitch had me in tears with this performance. You can check her performance out on Chenye Hauk’s Facebook along with other performances performed @ Fubar. Up and coming events @ Fubar include 2/1 performances by Raja and Morgan, hosted by Rhea Litre, and on 2/8 they will be celebrating Miss Mayhem’s birthday hosted by the one and only Miss Detox with performances by Mayhem and yours truly. Up in the city of Upland, Oasis NighTclub had their Drag Idol Finals and all the contestants again outdid themselves. Cha Cha took home the title and the cash!! Glen Allen came in 2nd with Jazmyn Simone in 3rd and Destiny in 4th place. Congratulations to all the girls and a big congratulations to Cha Cha, Work it out Diva! Be sure to check out her show Cha Cha’s Got Talent @ The Brick Nightclub in Pomona on Tuesdays. There you will see a new line of amatuer queens duke it out in a new fun 10 week contest. Rupaul’s Drag Race just recently had their premiere party at Eleven and it was a smash. Rupaul looked amazing as always and I got to see the first episode and it seems this season of Drag Race is going to be alot of fun. Shout out goes out to Raven, Morgan, and Shangela for representing SoCal in the new season. There is a new Myspace/Facebook that I want to give a shout out to called SoCal Drag Scene. This new site is a must see for all Drag lovers and I can’t thank this site enough for all the equal support it has given to all the Drag performers and it keeps you up to date with all the Drag Events that go on each day of the week. The head of the website has decided to remain anonymous but I just want to say to them thank you for everything that you are doing. Big drag kiss, MUAH!! Well darlings, I guess thats about it for now…. Except for a lil’ Drag lesson of the Day…Amateur D.’ Queens please treat your experienced Queens with respect and don’t act like little Divas with them, they are the ones who might consider having you in their show, so please, show some RESPECT!!
Love and kisses Venus D Lite
